SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS

community roots.png

Coppal House Farm is a real working farm where students will see all aspects of farm life, crops, and animals.  Our farm and corn maze are set up in a manner that encourages team building, cooperative learning, and a rewarding educational experience.  As an eighth-grade educator for 27 years, Carol has helped turn this working farm into a place where there are learning opportunities for all age groups.  Starting with the corn maze, there are trivia questions about this year’s theme.  Our themes have encompassed the birds of the air, to the mammals & amphibians that roam our fields and woods, to plant life that you can find all over NH.  Each year, a series of questions are placed into the  maze to help you navigate the winding paths.  We hope that some of the answers are ones that you know, while others make you think “well, I never knew that”.

In the field adjacent to the corn maze, you are welcome to plan other activities or games that follow your school curriculum.  We have had school groups bring giant parachutes, plan a scavenger hunt, and have story time.

If you would like to do activities more closely related to the farm, we give presentations to groups in our barn and farm stand about the horses, sheep, & chickens or put together pumpkins so the students can paint on them (we suggest bringing permanent markers rather than paint – there is an additional cost for the pumpkins).  If any of these activities interest you, please discuss them with our farm staff when you make your field trip reservation.  Some activities may be unavailable depending on the season.

We provide a large picnic area outside of the corn maze with many picnic tables if you would like to bring a snack, or even stay for lunch.  While we don’t have lunch items available here, we do have some snacks and treats available for purchase in our farm stand if you choose to allow the kids to buy items.
